Meet some of the incredible animals who call our sanctuary home — each with a unique story of rescue, resilience, and love.

Jinx & Buddy

The brown goat is Jinx, and he was brought to us by the SPCA. He is the sanctuary's first goat and the last of the four original goats we had. He is approximately 13 years old. Jinx is an old soul and still such a silly boy who loves basking in the sun and giving us his toothy smile.  Buddy is the multi-colored pigmy goat we found for Jinx when we lost his sister last year. He is about 5 years old and will never pass up the chance to start chewing on your clothing or head-butt whenever he gets the chance. Jinx was very sad after losing the last sibling of his original goat pack family, but Buddy brought new life to him and all of us.

Angel and Liberty

We got the boys together 5 years ago from the same farmer at an auction, they were being sold by the pound. They were just babies at the time but to watch them grow you can see how similar their personalities are. They are so sweet and affectionate always coming to you for a snuggle session but when it comes to snacks and food they will mow you down in a second to get to them.

Hector

Hector is our special broad-breasted turkey, and he is approximately 4 years old. He was found wandering a subdivision around the Thanksgiving weekend of 2021. He is our bright and shining star of the sanctuary, with so much personality and character. You will always find him right by your side, no matter what.

Wilbur

Wilbur Wilbur (aka Wilby) is approximately 14 years old and was our first potbellied pig at the sanctuary. Wilby says it’s his sanctuary, but he will share it with his sisters and brothers. Our boy is showing signs of aging but is getting the best natural supplements to ease his aches and pains. Wilbur is the sweetest boy and gently takes his treats by the hand. He is also at the top of the pecking order of the pack, and his brothers all respect him.

Lily

Our Miss Lily is the only female in all 7 of the potbelly pigs we have and over the years her brothers were tending to bully her out of her food so we made the decision to have her separate and you will see her free roaming everywhere with her brothers Poombah and Wilbur as they are much kinder too her, her and Wilbur are pretty inseparable. Lily lived in a house at one point and because of that she is an expert begger and will always be at your side when meals are being prepped nudging you ever so gently with her nose. She is very delicate when she walks like a lil lady and can also be very dramatic as well.

Blaze and Emmett

Blaze and Emmett (aka The twins)  They came to the sanctuary 9 years ago as baby potbellies.  They are from the same Mother's belly who was rescued in a seize by the SPCA.  A man was illegally selling them to restaurants for meat.  The boys have never known any cruelty in their lives as they were saved just in time and still in Moms belly at the time of the seize.  They have such a calm and sweet personality and have their own, unique snort communication amongst each other.

Poombah

If you’ve seen The Lion King, you’ll understand how Poombah got his name! With his unique look, he definitely stands out from other pot-bellied pigs. Poombah came to us from Timmins and is now 13 years old.Like many pot-bellies, he was likely sold under the “mini pig” myth — the false claim that these pigs stay small. In reality, they can grow up to 150 pounds and need outdoor space and enrichment. Without that, they often become frustrated and misunderstood. Sadly, that’s how many of our pigs end up here.Poombah is chatty and full of personality. He’s part of our free-roaming pig trio but now prefers the calmer company of Lily and Wilbur in the barn, where he keeps close by during food prep — always making sure we don’t forget his meal!

Truffle

Truffle is one of 3 of our big pigs left out of 9 we originally had.  So many of our loves are seniors now and Truff is now 12 years old, living with his mate Willow and brother Yoda.  Truffle had one of the most horrific stories of all of our rescues. He was at a farm with Trixie who we lost several years back to heart failure, the farmer abandoned the farm and left the pigs to eat each other to stay alive. Thankfully he was saved at about  year old and has been with us ever since. He is known to be somewhat aggressive switch food and we can understand why but we saw this romantic side to him when Trixie was sick and ready to transition to her next life, he gathered up a mouthful of hay and brought it to her medical stall and put it there as if it was an offering like a bouquet of flowers.  He has had several medical issues over the years but is still living his best life laying in the sun in the muddy wallow getting spoiled with his favourite treats.

Moon Shadow

Moon shadow is part of the OG group of the first 9 animals to come to the sanctuary 14 years ago, he is one of the shyer ones but still has a lot of spunk for his age, he looks more like a female with this stunning eyelashes and being so tiny.

Moo Moo

Moo Moo is our fierce leader of the herd and is now approximately 14 years old.  He was very lucky to be saved by a lovely lady who couldnt bare to see him at a day old be killed.  His Mom gave birth to him on her way to auction and no one wanted to buy him at a day old as they know they will be sick without their Mother so they were going to kill him right there and the lady that was actually driving the truck offered to take him and bring him to our sanctuary.  For Moo Moo's size he is so gentle and shy but not when it comes to the fresh bale of hay, he tries to have it all to himself. We have had to save his life a few times now from bloat and Thank goodness we were there in time.

Rufus

Rufus is also part of the original 9 cows to come to the sanctuary.  Of all the cows we still have this is the boy that will be racing to you for any kind of treats or to steal his siblings treats as well.  His personality has two sided to it, one side is very playful and jovial and then there are many moments we see him just staring at you with such a serious look.

Mazletov

Mozletov aka Moz was one of the original 9 animals (steers) to first come to the sanctuary.  He can be 'our grumpy 'ol Man' for the most part but we can win him over most times with some extra grain treats to keep weight on him in his older years.  The original 9 bovines were all in what they call a 'finishing barn'  When a group of activists saw them and the conditions they were in and asked if they could take them to a sanctuary and they agreed.  The spend their days lounging in the sun and just enjoying being with their family they have grown up with.

Remington

Remington is also part of the OG group of cows to be the first animals at the sanctuary. He is such a beautiful, massive boy but is very shy as well and really keeps to himself and his herd.

Jelly Bean

Jelly Bean is our only female cow amongst her 9 steer brothers. She may be small but she is tough! Jelly Bean is part of the original 9 animals to arrive at the sanctuary 14 years ago and she is still thriving and does not let her brothers push her around. She is very independent and shy but still has a softness to her.

Sage

Sage aka Lil man Sage is French for wise one and he definitely is an inquisitive boy. He came to us from Quebec in the fall of 2024. Even though we are not taking on anymore rescues at this point when we heard the story and saw his picture we couldn’t resist. The woman who has him most of his life has put in her will that she wanted him to go to a sanctuary and her daughters were running out of options for him, we loved this story and although we never met her, she has raised some beautiful daughters and we can see why she loved this handsome man. When he looks at you, it is with such deep soulful eyes and he loves attention and will actually get very jealous when he sees you giving anyone else some. He is 12 years old now, so the youngest of the herd and we pray for many more years with him.

Harley

Harlequin, affectionately known as Harley, is one of the original nine cows who arrived at the sanctuary 14 years ago. He's always been one of the more extroverted members of the herd—never shy about soaking up attention and letting you love on him. His markings are simply stunning, especially the unique patterns on his face, which make him truly unforgettable.

Sassy and Furby

Sassy came to us two years ago from a kind woman who found her hiding under a car in an industrial area. With her red eyes (despite not being albino) and fur that mysteriously changes in patches, we suspect she may have once been used for animal testing. Despite whatever she’s been through, Sassy is incredibly sweet—always showering us with kisses and mothering her bonded mate, Furby. It’s as if she knows she's finally safe and loved. Wanting her to have companionship, we brought Furby into her life. He's a three-year-old Netherland Dwarf, and the two are inseparable. You can often find them side by side, with Sassy gently grooming him as they relax in the sun. We’re not sure how old Sassy is, but we cherish every moment with these two little lovebugs.

Blue

Blue aka Blue bird was not named this because of his colouring but because of his love for blueberries. Blue was found in a lovely couples backyard in Caledon Ontario with a pack of wild turkeys and another peacock, they kept coming up to their house for food and one day a fox got the one peacock so they didn’t want that to happen to Blue so they brought him to us, 3 years ago. Blue’s personality shines when he is in full bloom and strutting his feathers. He is not one to be told what he can and cannot do, he is quite the wanderer and you will often hear us saying, ‘Where’s Blue?’

Tommy

Tommy aka Tom Tom, Thomas has been with us for over 10 years now and he first came to us as a Farrell cat and wouldn't let you near him now with so much love from all the humans who come to the sanctuary and his family here, you cant keep him off your lap or your foot.
